The gist of my original article, Life: Zero-sum or something else? is that life isn’t or doesn’t have to be a zero-sum game. Too often we view it that way, because of limiting beliefs, when if we opened up a bit more, we’d find that there are plenty more options than we first might have seen. And that it doesn’t have to come down to “winners vs. losers”.
I agree with your point that there has to be people who want different positions. Guidance programs do students a huge disservice when they portray a picture of a world where there are just a few options available to young people (or older people who are changing/rebooting careers).
